Southern Science is an enterprise company of the Southern Water Group of companies, which deals with the scientific aspects of the group's activities in addition to external consultancy and laboratory analysis. It is composed of four laboratory and four consultancy sections of which the Environmental Monitoring Unit (EMU) deals with marine environmental issues. EMU holds data on benthic, hydrographic and water quality studies, principally along the south coast of England from the Isle of Wight to the Thames Estuary. Data are available by special arrangement via both Southern Science and Southern Water Services. Charges will be levied if a data search is required. Initial contact should be made with the manager of EMU who will arrange for the relevant data set manager to provide the information. Brochures and capability statements describing Southern Science's activities are available from the manager of EMU.
