- The Marine Services Division of The Bristol Port Company carries
out the conservancy function as the Statutory Harbour Authority. This includes
hydrographic surveys within the port limits of the Port of Bristol and the
collection of tidal data associated with this process.
Additionally the division maintains meteorological records of wind speed and
direction and barometric pressure.
Copies of estuarial surveys are forwarded to the Hydrographic Office, Taunton.
Records of the actual tides are forwarded to the Proudman Oceanographic
Laboratory and the Hydrographic Office, Taunton. Meteorological information is
forwarded to the Meteorological Office.
The Bristol Port Company exchanges data freely on a bilateral basis but
reserves the right to charge users for costs involved in making data
available, e.g. costs of copying, materials, staff, postage, etc.
