The Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is concerned with all aspects of the ecology of seals and whales and has particular responsibility to provide scientific advice to the Government on the conservation and management of marine mammals. Data collected on the distribution and behaviour of marine mammals is available by arrangement with the Unit contact above. Marginal costs involved in making the data available may be charged and some data may be available only with the permission of the data collectors involved.
