organisation profile

Blom Aerofilms Limited, UK, has been known under many different names, and having produced a variety of services, the basics have always been the same... experienced staff producing innovative, technical and high quality products. In 2005 they were acquired by  Blom ASA, Norway, which was founded by hydrographer Ole H Blom in 1954 and is now one of the European leaders of acquisition, processing, modelling and services based on geographical information. Headquarters are located in Oslo, Norway, but there are local offices in 13 European countries. Blom has a workforce of over 1,100 trained staff all excelling in their fields of expertise. Traditionally aerial photography and surveys were our core market.

Back in 1919 in the UK Aerofilms staff were hanging out the side of planes with hand held cameras to capture Oblique and Vertical photographs of individual landmarks. The Blom group now has over 18 aerial survey planes and leases four helicopters to transport our 23 large format camera and 10 LiDAR systems around the globe to produce high accuracy airborne surveys. These products are still part of our core services; however any successful company's growth is based on innovating and creating new services. Blom is proud of the innovation that is embraced in our offices. We now move ahead into new markets and products maintaining our strong reputation in the core aerial photography and mapping fields. In November 2016 Blom Aeroflims became a subsidiary of Cyient Europe Limited, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Cyient Limited. By 1st April, 2017, Blom Aerofilms will be fully integrated into Cyient Europe.
