organisation profile

The keywords ""Anthropic Impacts"" and ""Sustainability"", which determine the acronym, are the extreme synthesis of a new discipline, the science of sustainability (sustainability science), which in the project and in the path of the Institute must be declined to the marine environment, and which in recent years has been outlining its scientific paradigm by integrating environmental, economic and social aspects in an innovative perspective of the relationship between man and the natural, economic, social and institutional systems in which he lives.
In this context, IAS has the opportunity to develop a science capable of integrating the various disciplines that represent it (Environmental Chemistry, Ecotoxicology, Marine Ecology, Operational Oceanography, Ecological and Molecular Modeling, Innovative Monitoring Technologies, Biocorrosion and Biodeterioration; Changes on ecosystems) in order to mitigate the complex anthropic impacts that insist on the marine ecosystem by promoting sustainable exploitation and to increase awareness of real sustainability in future production and consumption choices linked to this fundamental environmental system.
