- ARPA Puglia, Regional Agency for the Prevention and Protection of the Environment, is the Technical Body of the Puglia Region, established and governed by Regional Law 22 January 1999, n. 6, as amended by the Regional Law 4 October 2006, n. 27, hereinafter referred to as the institutive law.
ARPA Puglia is responsible for carrying out activities and tasks relating to environmental prevention and protection, as identified by art. 4 of the instituting law, for the purpose of safeguarding environmental conditions, especially in relation to the protection of the health of citizens and the community.
The activity of ARPA Puglia is carried out in compliance with the principles of complementarity and integration of its technical competition with the institutional tasks of political direction, administration and management falling within the competence of the Puglia Region, as well as the annual and three-year objectives of regional planning and, to rule of paragraph 3 of art. 15 of the L.R. 6/99, of the environmental control established by the Regional Council.
ARPA Puglia has public legal personality, as well as technical-legal, administrative and accounting autonomy (Article 2 paragraph 1 L.R. 6/99), within the limits of the reference framework established by the law establishing the same, by the Regional Law of 30 December 1994 n. 38, by the Regional Law 4 February 1997 n. 7, by the Regional Law of 16 November 2001 n. 28, as well as the other regulatory and administrative provisions of the Puglia Region.
