- The CIBM is a non-profit association formed by public bodies founded in 1967. It operates under private law. The CIBM was founded by the Municipality of Livorno and the Universities of Florence, Pisa, Siena, Bologna, Modena-Reggio Emilia, Turin and today it also includes the University of Cagliari among its members. Each University belongs to the Scientific Committee with one or more Departments.
The CIBM carries out a series of scientific and consultancy activities concerning the study of the sea and its protection, through the specialized use of biological, chemical and physical analysis.
