LaMMA, Environmental Monitoring and Modeling Laboratory for sustainable development, is a public consortium between the Tuscany Region and the National Research Council (CNR). The main areas of activity of LaMMA are meteorology, climatology, geographic information systems (GIS), geology and oceanography.
The LaMMA activities are divided in three technical divisions: Atmosperic Physics, Geomatics and Oceanography.
Its main offices are hosted at the premises of CNR, in the Sesto Fiorentino Research Area (Florence), with two other local offices located in:
Livorno, an oceanographic laboratory, with a major focus on marine meteorology and coastal observations;
Grosseto, the centre for the study of soil erosion and water resources.
