UMR LETG (Littoral Environnement Télédétection Géomatique) 6554 was created in 1996 by the CNRS to bring together research conducted in geography on 4 university sites (Nantes, Brest, Rennes, Caen). The scientific field of the unit is environmental geography. Thanks to its expertise in human geography, physical geography and geomatics, LETG's scientific programme pursues the objective of contributing to knowledge on nature/society interactions through a modelling and integrative approach at the geographical land-sea-atmosphere interfaces.
The scientific programme is structured in 3 axes: Coastline, Continental Environments and Remote Sensing-Geomatics.
STM activities are mainly developed on the Brest and Nantes sites.
In Nantes, the research activity is mainly focused on coastal and oceanic functions at the interface with sensitive and fragile nature (coastal morphology, environmental protection, integrated management).
