Created in 2005 by different federal and provincial government departments, academic and community organizations, SLGO is an NGO supporting the networking of a growing number of member organizations, composing the first integrated ocean observing system in Canada.
Its concept makes it possible to maximize the benefits of data collection by integrating multidisciplinary data from multiple partners on a single web portal, thus promoting data discovery and re-use. Access to information highlighted by SLGO offers development opportunities geared toward public and private sectors of derived products and services, consequently generating considerable socioeconomic benefits.
To maximize data democratization, SLGO develops user-friendly Web apps, to facilitate visualization and data downloading in various formats.
