At the heart of a network made up of public organizations, marine professionals and scientists, the CSLN pursues the essential goal of improving scientific knowledge of aquatic environments, particularly along the Normandy coast. It develops studies and monitoring of aquatic environments, particularly estuarine and marine environments, by disseminating its experience to the authorities in charge of its management. Three main missions contribute to this goal: 1/ Translittoral observatory mission: - Inventory, follow-up of the evolution of the fauna/flora of the coast, of the fishing trades, - Consolidation of data banks: capitalization and communication of data, - Participation in working groups, commissions and steering committees, - Fishing observatory, - Advice on operational management of the coast: remediation and rehabilitation projects. 2/ Educational activities and events for the general public: local events, awareness raising, training of trainers. 3/ Conducting studies and follow-ups with public or private contractors.
