organisation profile
The responsibilities of WTD 71 cover the entire range of naval defense technology during all phases of the defense acquisition cycle. Most of its activities focus on the overall system aspects of ships as well as the interdependencies between various components and the system as a whole in a naval environment.
These complex tasks require specific, and sometimes unique, technological facilities, such as:
- Facilities for magnetic measurement and treatment of ships and components, such as a large test device for ships and submarines simulating Earth's magnetic field in order to determine the magnetic protection level of a ship;
- Acoustic measurement sites for ships both in shallow and deep waters;
- Range tracking systems (both under and above water), underwater test facility, torpedo firing position and range;
- Test stands for shock, vibration, climate, resistance to corrosion, flammability and engineering tests;
- Fleet of eight modern trial ships, including the research ship "Planet".
