The Department of Geosciences at the University of Fribourg and the section of Geology has internationally recognized scientists working on various aspects of Earth Sciences in international and national projects. On our web page (http://www.unifr.ch/geoscience/) you will find general information about the Department, but also about research domains and publications.
Research in our section is twofold, with one orientation towards fundamental research and one towards applied research. Fundamental research covers regional geology, tectonics and geodynamics, but also sedimentary processes, basin evolution and paleoenvironmental and paleoclimate studies (in paleontology and micropaleontology). Applied research is carried out in the fields of material sciences, with a strong pole in archaeometry.
We are involved in numerous international projects throughout the world ( North and Ouest Africa, Europe, Asia, North and South America).
