- The Institut des Sciences de la Terre de Paris (ISTeP) is a geology laboratory, focused on fundamental research, with broad scientific orientations, on the functioning of the Earth's inner and outer envelopes from their formation to their most recent expressions: natural hazards or climatic variations. This scientific positioning is implemented through approaches combining geochemistry, petrology, tectonics, sedimentology and numerical modelling. A large part of our research is based both on a field approach, on coupled approaches (land-sea, ancient-recent, deep-surface, geology-biology, geophysical-mechanical etc...), on the implementation of consistent analytical means in data processing, imaging, mineralogical and geochemical analyses and on modelling (thermo-mechanical, thermo-dynamic, stratigraphic, mineralogical).
