Bioforsk is a national R&D institute under the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food with about 500 employees.
Bioforsk is a relatively new institute, a result of the merge of the Norwegian Centre for Soil and Environmental Research (Jordforsk), Norwegian Crop Research Institute (Planteforsk) and Norwegian Centre for Ecological Agriculture (Norsøk).
The institute conducts applied specifically targeted research in order to contribute to sustainable development within Multifunctional agriculture and rural development, Plant sciences, Environmental protection and natural resource management.
Bioforsk has strong emphasis on international co-operation, exchange of researchers nationally and internationally and integrated projects that address Bioforsk's priority areas.
