The department was founded in 1974, and has developed rapidly and recognized nationwide as well as worldwide. We developed our curriculum to emphasize the applications related to mining, geological, petroleum, civil, and environmental engineering disciplines. The department offers B.Sc., MSc, and PhD. degrees in geophysical engineering.The mission of the Department of Geophysical Engineering to graduate the most creative and productive geophysical engineers highly regarded by government ad private enterprises as well as research and academic institutions. Our department is in continuous development of its educational and research programs and infrastructure.Since 1974, the department has played a significant role in several aspects of earth sciences through national and international projects. Being one of the most prominent among the universities in Turkey, the Department of Geophysical Engineering of ITU has developed programs and solutions to numerous engineering and environmental problems that have been vital for industry government, and municipalities.
