EurOcean – The European Centre for information on Marine Science and Technology, established in 2002, with its secretariat based in Lisbon, Portugal, is an independent scientific non-governmental organisation of leading European marine organisations whose aim is to facilitate information exchange and generate value-added products in the field of marine sciences and technologies between a wide range of governmental and non-governmental bodies. In 2015, EurOcean represented 13 Member Organisations from 10 countries and regions and three Cooperating Members. http://www.marinett.eu/
EurOcean maintains a number of marine information Infobases, including Marine Knowledge Gate, which catalogues over 6000 marine research projects and some of their related knowledge outputs funded through a number of European and national funding programmes. In addition it hosts and manages catalogues of European Marine Research Infrastructure documenting over 900 infrastructures including research vessels, their associated equipment, aquaculture and biological research facilities among others. Moreover Eurocean is involved in Ocean Public Outreach and Education Activities and supports the principles of a Blue Society through its activities.
