- The Ecology department was founded at University of Barcelona in 1967, by who was the first lecturer of this discipline in Catalonia and Spain, Dr. Ramon Margalef. Since then, the Ecology department consolidated at University of Barcelona and it is one of the few Departments of this subject that exist in Spain.
