- The Wave Department of BSH (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency) participates in wave research projects, and in cooperation with the German Meteorological Service operates a national wave forecast service for the North Atlantic, European Shelf and Baltic Sea. Sea state measurements are collected at several sites for the purpose of validation of the wave forecast, but also to support local ship navigation and pilot service.
