The LGO is a multi-approach geoscience laboratory covering geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics, sedimentology and paleontology. Our research involves the observation, measurement and modeling of processes. We carry out methodological and instrumental developments applied to the exploration of the oceans, from the telluric mantle to the surface envelopes of coastal and offshore areas.
Our work focuses on the genesis and evolution of oceanic domains at short time (geohazards), intermediate time (sedimentary records, paleoenvironments) and long time (lithospheric dynamics, mantle heterogeneities).>LF> Our fields of investigation range from continental rifts to oceanic ridges, from continental shelves to deep basins, from hot spots to volcanic islands, and from passive to active margins.
Our laboratory belongs to the European University Institute of the Sea (IUEM).
