IFP Energies nouvelles (formerly IFP until 2010) is a major player in research and training in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. From research to industry, technological innovation is at the heart of its action. IFPEN is active in four main areas: sustainable mobility, renewable energies, responsible hydrocarbons, climate and environment. The research within IFPEN focuses in particular on the following themes in the field of Marine Sciences and Technology:
- Technologies for energy production in the marine environment: design of floats for floating wind turbines, simulation of the behaviour of floating wind turbines, wind measurement and control of floating wind turbines, optimisation of maintenance operations for floating wind turbines, control of wave-motor systems;
- Development of eco-efficient technologies for offshore oil and gas exploration and production: technology design (risers, production lines, pumps for subsea or downhole applications, ...), production risk management (development of sensors, modelling and monitoring).
The IFPEN is installed on 2 main sites: one in Rueil-Malmaison in 92, the other in Solaize in 69.
