organisation profile

The Maritime Institute in Gdansk (MIG) is an independent, self-financing research institute responsible to the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Economy in Warsaw. It deals with scientific studies, research, implementation and experiments covering technical, technological, economic and organizational management as well as ecological and legal aspects of the maritime economy and related areas of national economy.

MIG Szczecin Branch specialises in the problems of coastal and river mouth regions, particularly the Odra river. MIG Szczecin Branch has its own network of hydrological measuring stations located within the lower Odra river network area, the Odra Lagoon and Baltic coast. Records of measurements have been gathered in computer databases and used for the development and application of hydrological and hydraulic mathematical models of relevant aquatic area, as well as for purposes of engineering design and water management. As a Contractor, MI Szczecin Branch makes its databases accessible in the form of a relevant contract report, but other forms of data availability can be considered e.g. bilateral exchange. A brochure describing the Marine Institute's activities in more detail (English version) is obtainable from the Branch.
