organisation profile

The aim of the Marineland association is to develop, promote and encourage the conservation of animal species while educating and raising awareness of the marine environment. The conservation of species and their environment requires the acquisition of knowledge to adapt the management policies of species and their environment and thus better protect them. All the programmes carried out by the Marineland association are part of this objective. They participate in the collection of data, within the framework of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (providing information on biodiversity, chemical contaminants and marine waste), which is essential for the permanent evaluation of the environment and the implementation of measures essential for maintaining and/or restoring the proper functioning of marine ecosystems.
Through various collaborations, the Marineland association runs several environmental programmes, including the Clean & Collect programme. The mission of this programme is to monitor the macro-waste accumulated on the ""Anse pointe Garoupe"" site, at the heart of the Natura 2000 area ""Baie et Cap d'Antibes- Iles de Lérins"". Beyond a beach clean-up, providing information not only on the quantity but also on the nature of the waste collected, ""Clean & Collect"" is a remarkable awareness-raising tool that bears witness to the impact of macro-waste and the strong correlation that exists between the waste found in the marine ecosystem and that ingested by marine turtles.
