Founded in Hamburg in 1907 as the "Association for the Establishment of Bird Sanctuaries on German Coasts" (designation until 1966), the association Jordsand has been committed to sea and coastal bird protection and nature conservation on the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Greater Cologne for more than 100 years Hamburg. On-site the club performs many tasks in the care of the areas. The environmental protection work of the association Jordsand is predominantly of a practical nature from active protection work such as garbage disposal, coastal protection and visitor guidance to scientific investigations such as the ringing of thousands of migratory birds on the Greifswalder Oie or geese counts at the mouth of the mouth.
