"The Marine Pole has been structured to contribute to the development of the blue economy in New Caledonia, and more specifically to foster the development of the aquaculture and marine biotechnology sectors, based on the richness of local marine ecosystems, whose valuation potential is still largely under-exploited.
Since its creation in 2012, the Marine Pole has been developing an experimental and transfer program, based on 3 dedicated pilot production centers or units, and a network of public and private partners from public authorities, educational institutions higher and research, and the corporate world.
The work aims in particular to strengthen the competitiveness of the existing shrimp industry, to create new aquaculture productions in partnership with local entrepreneurs, and to develop promising sectors such as fish farming or microalgae production."
