At the end of the 1980s, there was a need for operators with environmental impact to coordinate their control of influences in recipients. Therefore, Blekinge Coalition for air treatment was formed in 1989 and Blekingekusten Coalition of Water Conservation in 1990. Blekinge was in the process of forming an association for the control of recipients early on. Similar covenants exist in several parts of Sweden. From 2013, control will be taken for both water and air in this joint union.
The federation has the task of initiating and coordinating the necessary investigations for impact assessment and development trends, in air and coastal waters in Blekinge.
The sampling follows the completed programs, and is partly coordinated with other federations and surveys. Currently, the control of water is controlled by Medins Biology AB, while the control of air is mainly performed by IVL. The measurement results are used to follow the progress of recipients in a long-term perspective.
