organisation profile
The activities are in two main research areas:
(1) Monitoring of stable pollutants (PCBs, organochlorine pesticides, heavy metals) at the different trophic levels of marine ecosystems (phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthos, fish, birds and mammals) with special interest for background concentrations (levels in Arctic and Antarctic areas);
(2) At sea study of the distribution of marine birds and mammals: seasonal variations of distributions, linkage with hydrographical regimes, estimations of population sizes and densities. Estimations of food demands and energy fluxes through higher trophic levels of the marine ecosystems.
