- The Faculty of Animal Biology belongs to the Department of Biology of Patras University and consists of two laboratories, that is the Laboratory of Zoology and the Laboratory of Animal Physiology. The scientists of the first of the above laboratories are involved in several marine research activities mainly in the fields of Zooplankton Ecology, Fish Biology and Pollution. The Laboratory of Zoology is mainly financed by the Ministry of Education. In addition, it receives financial support by several other sources for its participation in research programmes. Such research projects are mainly carried out in collaboration with the National Centre for Marine Research, in Athens. As a University unit the Laboratory of Zoology has also an important graduate and post-graduate teaching activity.
