organisation profile
The Hydroacoustic Laboratory of the Institute of Acoustic, was founded in 1967 and belongs to the Council of Scientific Research (CSIC). It carries out R+D activities in the field of the submarine acoustics. These activities include: Hydroacoustical transducers, sonar designs, acoustic propagation in the sea, marine bottom echosounder, studies in the shallow layer of the marine bottom and propagation in porous media. For the development of the research programs of the last decade it has been necessary to carry out bottom noise measurements and acoustic reflection studies in the bottom of ports and bays of the Spanish littoral. The Institute of Acoustic offers to scientific community the acoustic submarine data collected in this period, recorded on magnetic tape and stored in the Hydroacoustic Laboratory.
