: The UMR 5805 ("Oceanic and Continental Environments and Paleoenvironments" EPOC since 2011) is a Mixed Research Unit under supervision of the University of Bordeaux, the CNRS and the EPHE. It is an integral part of the Aquitaine Observatory of Sciences of the Universe (OASU, www.oasu.fr/).

Its main areas of activity are:
The Scientific research in all areas related to the study of oceanic and continental aquatic environments and paleo-environments. This component is structured in three main themes and seven scientific teams:
(1) Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry (Geochemical Transfers of Metals at the Continent-Ocean Interface, Physico- and Toxico-chemistry of the Environment, Aquatic Ecotoxicology);
(2) Coastal Oceanography (ECOlogy and BIOgeochemistry of Coastal Systems, Experimental Modeling and Remote Sensing in Sedimentary HYdrodynamics)
(3) Marine Geosciences (Paleoclimates, Sedimentology).

The Training at / through research, within the University of Bordeaux, with the master's degrees in "Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution", "Marine Sciences", the international course "Marine Environment and Resources", "Toxicology and eco-toxicology "," Chemistry " and " Professions of Education, Teaching and Training ".

The Observation, which includes both long-term and high-frequency components. These activities are conducted in close association with the OASU and often within the framework of national SNO networks (e.g., SOMLIT, DYNALIT, GAIA, PHYTOBS ...).

UMR EPOC is located on 3 main geographical sites spread over the Talence, Pessac and Arcachon university campuses.
