The University of Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO) is a multidisciplinary and multi-polar on four training sites: Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais, Dunkerque and St Omer. Research has always been a priority for the university, resulting in a better visibility at the national and international level . Three themes are developed in eleven accredited laboratories grouped into five research houses : Environment, coastal environments, sustainable development", "Language, literature, history and culture", "Mathematics and engineering sciences." Today, it promotes the development of synergies between its laboratories and strongly encourages the active participation of the latter to research networks, particularly at regional level. Founding member of the Cluster Research and Higher Education (PRES) Université Lille Nord de France, it contributes to strengthening the research potential in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
