Malta Environment and Planning Authority is the agency that plans and controls land use change and regulates the environment sector in Malta MEPA was formed in March 2002 after the merger of the Planning Authority and the Environmental Protection Department under the Ministry for the Environment. It employs almost 400 people and is well respected as one of the most professional government agencies on the Island, particularly in the area of Information Technology and Research.
