The data holding laboratory is part of the Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of Pisa. It works on two different topics:
1) ecology of sandy marine bottom communities of ciliated protozoa and other microorganism;
2) ecology of alcyonarians, mainly corallium rubrum ecology and demography.
The Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Sea are the most investigated areas. The results of the studies carried out by the Laboratory were object of communications at the Unione Zoologica Italiana, Societa' Italiana di Ecologia, CIESM, E.M.B.S. Simposia.
