- The CETMEF is a service with national competence, attached directly to the
equipment ministery. The CETMEF is charged to work out and diffuse techniques,
to lead studies and research, to carry out services of engineering and
expertises in the field of installations and the maritime and river works,
the maritime and river hydraulic phenomena,
the safety assistances and devices interesting sea and river transport and,
for the whole of the services of the ministry in charge with the equipment,
the transmissions, telematics and the satellite techniques.
The CETMEF directs, in its field of action, the network of the centers
of studies techniques of the equipment.
It promotes the French techniques abroad.
Its manpower is of 250 permanent agents.
It is established with, in addition to Compiegne for the seat,
Aix-en-Provence, Bonneuil, Brest and Nantes.
