By the end of 2003, IRD has five expatriate scientists posted to Indonesia, belonging to three different research units (RU). RU 112 is hosted by CIFOR and ICRAF in Bogor, RU 92 by the Centre for Archeology (Puslit Arkenas) and RU 81 by the Research Centre for Aquaculture (Ministry of the Sea and of Fisheries). All studies are carried out in close collaboration with research teams from the hosting institutions. IRD scientists regularly mentor numerous Indonesian and French students. le Centre de Recherche en Aquaculture (Ministère de la Mer et des Pêches). The representative office counts 9 national recruited employees as well as a few temporary staff. The research teams: 1. Catfish : Biodiversity and aquaculture of cat fishes in South-East Asia. 2. CIFOR : Perceptions, uses and values of the forest among forest people in East-Kalimantan. 3. Arkenas : Ecology of human settlements during the holocen period in South-Sumatra. 4. ICRAF : The role of agroforests in biodiversity conservation
